Guest Teacher, Shobhna Chellaram

Long time student and teacher, Shobhna Chellaram, will be teaching a series of special topic classes at our centre. 
 
Neck & Shoulders Tue. 6 Sep 1:45pm-3:45pm In this workshop, poses that increase mobility, flexibility and awareness of neck and shoulders will be taught. These poses can help to improve the condition of the neck and shoulders and often help to reduce the incidence of headaches and other aches and pains around the neck and shoulders.
Working With Hips Tue.13 Sep 1:45pm-3:45pm In this workshop, explore the hip joint and poses that will improve the mobility and strength of your hip. One of the primary functions of the hips is to support the weight of the body in both static and dynamic postures and it plays a big role in retaining balance.
Restorative Yoga Wed. 5 Oct 6:00pm-7:30pm In this class, restorative Yoga poses are taught to induce relaxation and strengthen the immune state. In addition, restorative Yoga poses can regulate body functions and calm the mind.

Overcoming Fatigue (or Jet Lag) Mon.17 Oct 1:45pm-3:45pm Fatigue can be the result of over-exertion, emotional stress, or lack of sleep. Restorative Yoga is optimal for addressing fatigue. In addition, restorative poses can regulate body functions, calm the mind and help to reach deep relaxation.
Pranayama Wed.26 Oct 6:00pm-7:30pm In this class, students will explore the body's subtle energy, called "prana", through various breathing practices and techniques. Pranayama develops a smooth, relaxed breath, improves heart function and will reduce stress.

Restorative Yoga
(once-a-month)

Shobhna Chellaram has been a student of B.K.S. Iyengar for more than 25 years. Annually she spends months at a time in Pune to study at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute (RIMYI). She has lived and taught Iyengar Yoga in London, Hong Kong and Spain where she currently resides. Shobhna is also a trustee for Chellaram Charities, a group that works with diverse projects to support the less fortunate.
 
Cost (90-minute classes): Regular 90-minute class prices apply.
 
Cost (2-hour classes): Regular 2-hour class prices apply. Deduct a class from your 2-hours class package, deduct a class from your 90-minute class package and pay the “add on fee” of $70 or pay the drop in rate of $320
