Where do I start?

The best place to start is with an eight-week “Introductory Iyengar Yoga Course”. If this is not feasible, then you can also join a “Level I” class where the preliminaries will be taught.

After completing an Introductory Iyengar Yoga Course, you can either repeat the course to solidify the learning and get more practice or you can move on to a Level I class.  Level I classes practice the same poses that are taught in the Introductory Iyengar Yoga Course.

If you have already done some yoga (say 6 months or more), then try a Level I/II class.

 

What is an “Introductory Iyengar Yoga Course”?

 

The Introductory Iyengar Yoga Course:

  • is an eight-class course
  • is ideal for people who are new to Iyengar Yoga
  • teaches the fundamentals of Iyengar Yoga
  • is a systematic course that starts with the basics and builds from there
  • is limited to a small number of pre-enrolled students (6 students)
  • allows you to learn Iyengar Yoga with other students at the same level and progress through the course with the same co-students
  • allows you to attend a "make up" class if you miss out on a class during the course
  • costs $1,680 for eight class credits

What do I do after the "Introductory Iyengar Yoga Course"?

Following the “Introductory Iyengar Yoga Course”, some students choose to repeat the course once more to solidify learning or you can attend “Level I” classes. If you are not sure what to do next, please talk to your teacher.

Advantage of starting with a Course

The advantage of starting the practice of yoga with a course is that you can start with other people at the same level at the same time. The courses are designed to start at the very basic level and progress over the duration of the course in systematic manner.
