Iyengar Yoga in Depth

When you start to feel the multi-faceted benefits from the practice of Yoga, you may feel an urge to learn more about this ancient practice. You want to make it a more important part of your life. If you feel a spark has been ignited from your encounter with Yoga and you want to immerse yourself in the study — then you should enrol in Iyengar Yoga in Depth.

Iyengar Yoga in Depth is for you if:

  • you find yourself drawn to Iyengar Yoga.
  • you are inspired by the teachings of BKS Iyengar.

  • you are ready to make a commitment to learning more. This includes starting a home practice (or improving your home practice if you already have one).

Yoga is a light, which once lit, will never dim.

The better your practice, the brighter the flame.
                                                           - B.K.S Iyengar

TEACHER TRAINING

About becoming a teacher of Yoga, BKS Iyengar has said

“It is relatively easy to be a teacher of an academic subject, but to be a teacher in art is very difficult, and to be a yoga teacher is the hardest of all, because yoga teachers have to be their own critics and correct their own practice. The art of yoga is entirely subjective and practical. Yoga teachers have to know the entire functioning of the body; they have to know the behaviour of the people who come to them and how to react and be ready to help, protect and safeguard their pupils.”

- BKS Iyengar

The teacher mentorship program at The Iyengar Yoga Centre of Hong Kong is for students who are dedicated students of Iyengar Yoga.

The mentorship program at our centre spans 3-years and is aimed at providing someone who has the experience of Yoga as a student, the tools to teach the subject to others.

When the trainee teacher is ready, they can apply for an assessment to become certified. Assessments of teachers are conducted by an independent panel of assessors, administered through the Iyengar Yoga Association of Hong Kong.
